Stayin' Cool

So, we FINALLY took Gus to the groomer yesterday. He was WAYYY overdue.

We had been on a cribs shoot on Wednesday and one of the girls had a Shelty that she had shaved into a mohawk! What a great idea!

Gus is a horrible shedder, so why not get him shaved while he's in there, and why not get his hair shaved into a hilarious mohawk? So, we went for it, and it's sooo him! Of course, he wouldn't really sit still, so it's not the straightest mohawk you've ever seen, but it's got to be the funniest. He even has a 4th of July themed bandana, so he's kinda like a redneck pug.

The Good, Bad & Sick

In the last couple of days, kind of a lot has happened.

John woke up on Monday feeling awful. He took some DayQuil, Advil, Zyrtec (I know...he's like his own little pharmacist) but still couldn't shake the sick. So, after waking up feeling just as awful on Tuesday, I flexed my wife muscle and made him an appointment with the doctor. Good thing I did, too, because he had "bronchitis, or worse" and was given some strong cough syrup and a z-pack of sorts. Still no real upgrade in feeling, so if by Friday he hasn't improved (or even at the end of z-pack) we're headed back to the doctor. Boo!

In other news, the vet called us on Monday morning to check in on Lily and to give us an idea of what he has planned for her. (She had a tumor removed last August and when the info on the biopsy came back she was Stage 2 -- out of 3 -- cancer) So, with so many new spots showing up, it seems it might be time to make a plan for our little gal.

We're headed back in tomorrow morning to get her stitches removed (I know, such a quick healer!) and I guess we'll set up our first of our every-three-week appointments. That's part of his plan. See her every three weeks to see how the steroid is working. He also mentioned chemo. And, this is where it gets tricky...

Chemo for a dog, as you can imagine, is going to be pretty darn expensive. Plus, as much as we absolutely love her and are soooo glad that she's a part of our family, I just can't get my head around chemo for a dog...am I cruel???

So, I guess we'll see how that goes.

In much happier news, a few weeks back, we got new windows!!! We only did 6 this summer (so we could now be in compliance with Energy Star, and thus, receive our up to 30% rebate on our taxes next year!!). We plan to do the rest of the windows next summer and FINALLY put in that back door we've talked about since we moved in three.years.ago.

Here are a couple pics of the mess/installation of one of our new windows!!

Determination

If you have already noticed, I'm trying to make concerted effort at keeping this thing up to date ... and I think I've done a pretty good job lately, right? Plenty of info and plenty of pics! Go me!

Anyway, today's been pretty run of the mill for Sunday. It's father's day so we went to church and then brunch/lunch at Legends! That place is so good, and (not coincidentally) we're headed back there tomorrow night for John's grandmother's birthday dinner, complete with her 97 year old mother!

I've been reading a few other design blogs lately and I'm going crazy! All these other ladies have the best eye for design and great (cheap!) ideas, and it's making me want to go out and get all the same stuff they have! Since I'm currently without a car (making some weird noise, of course they have to order the part and no, there isn't a loaner car that I can have), I'm stuck at John's mercy, which (as if you're surprised) does not include Hobby Lobby, Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, Pier One....etc. You get the picture.

But I've got some great ideas and I even have a few things at home that I want to spray paint, sand down and paint, hang to keep me satisfied until I have my freedom back!

In other news, I've been pretty bad on the workout train. I'll have my good weeks, but others are TERRIBLE...one day of working out...maybe two (if that!). But, I'm determined to get back on my schedule. I've done so well at getting in shape and losing weight, I don't want all of my hard work to go down the drain. So, this is it. I'm getting up in the mornings to run again and I'm going to have to start writing everything down again...whatever works right??

Ok, sorry if this is boring, but like I said, I'm trying to be good at posting on here, mundane or not! And, I promise more pictures in my posts in the future!

Good Times

So, a good friend from college was back in town this weekend for a fundraiser event and he played at VZDs in OKC.

We hadn't seen him or heard him play in forever, so we made the trek up to OKC to hang out with friends and hear some good music.

We met up with the Burkharts (ha! first time since they're awesome wedding!) and randomly, (well probably not randomly, but unbeknownst to us) Tiff was there! Last time I saw her was also at B's wedding, but it was great to get to hang out and have a drink with some good friends.

Beth, Me & Tiff...she's pretty good at the self pic, huh?

Beth and Me

Christopher Wray and his OKC band

John & Tiff (again she's pretty darn good at the self pic)

Anyway, we had a great time, and got home a little later than I thought, but it was definitely worth the drive to see good friends and hear good music.

Update!

Well, Lily is back from the Vet (yesterday) and she's pretty much fine. She's pretty torn up from the surgery (I have pics, but I'll spare you...).

The good news is that they got the two tumors that we took her in for, the bad news is that they found "many more like those" and ended up taking out 5. Yep, I said five. They've sent them off to OSU for testing, and we should have those results in about 2 weeks or so. The also did a chest x-ray of sorts to make sure that her chest and lungs were ok, and they were fine -- no signs of tumors. But, they made note of where they found all the other spots on her.

She's on some meds: a steroid (that's right, no baseball for our gal) to hopefully shrink the spots they found and to stave off more tumors/spots from showing up and some kind of medicine that helps with gastrointestinal fluid (tmi??).

So...she's medicated and really getting around pretty well, but we're watching her like a hawk.

Maybe when the stitches are out and she's healing up more, I'll post a pic.

Also, John and I saw the Hangover tonight. It was hilarious! So funny...good lines, good actors, everything was great! And I heard they're already planning to do a sequel! Jackpot!

On the Puppy Disable List

This precious puppy is currently at the Vet getting two more tumors removed. Yep, she's had them for awhile, but they've gotten bigger. The vet is concerned about the frequency of them (the tumor on her her hip was removed less than a year ago). So, it's possible that she'll need some type of long term antibiotic to maybe stave off the tumors.

Oh, they are having to give her a catheter with different anesthesia this time...no more seizures for our little lilbug.

She can look forward to lots of snoozing and kibble when she gets back home!! (poor thing had to skip breakfast this morning, she was not happy)

Bathing Suits & Baseball

So, last weekend, the Montgomery family (the whole Montgomery family - pugs included) hit the road for some Ranger baseball games in Arlington.

We took the pugs along and never regretted that decision -- dogs need weekends too!

(I know, Lily looks a little scary here, but even dogs have problems when looking directly into the flash!)

Our first game (both against the Manny Ramirez-less Dodgers) was on Friday night, and even though it was quite warm, we had a great time. There was a time in there that we thought we might have to duck and cover due to the nasty looking weather heading our way. But, things turned out ok, no weather and the Rangers won!

On Saturday, we spent the afternoon at the pool (we did that on Friday too...and it was considerably less crowded). Laying by the pool, reading a book, soaking in some sun...soooo great! Our second game on Saturday night was pretty fun. I had THE.BEST.NACHOS.EVER. But, about 5 innings in, somehow a circuit breaker blew and a whole deal of lights (what's the technical term here??) went out, causing a delay of 1 hour, 40 mins. Needless to say, we walked around the stadium in the sweltering heat, but were getting a bit bored by the time the game resumed. So, we called it good on baseball for the trip and headed back to the hotel.

All in all, we had a great trip. We managed to squeeze in meals at 2 of the 3 Pappas restaurants (Pappadeaux -- John D. LOOOOOOOOVES seafood, and Pappasitos)

Anyway, it was a lot of fun and long overdue!

Here are a few more pics from Beth and Blake's Wedding

Goin to the Chapel

Beth and Blake finally got married!

They started dating not too long after John and I did sophomore year of college and, due to Beth going to optometry school in Talehquah (I never know how to spell, just deal!), they're nuptials were a little later than she wanted!

But they got married last weekend without a hitch! Everything was really great.

The Bridesmaid brunch was at Nonna's in Bricktown and the lunch was good and the conversation even better (it's always nice to have some girl time!). B got us the cutest aprons from Etsy ... my FAVORITE online store! (Seriously, if you've never been on there, check it out, the cutest jewelry, cards, clothes, art, etc - and its mostly all handmade!)

Then Friday night was the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. Yes, J and I did quite a bit of driving between Purcell and OKC, but it was worth it. Blake's parents catered the dinner at their house. The pasta was AMAZING (J was sent home with some leftovers - that were gone by Sat. morning, no surprise there!) and we got to meet Beth's extended fam, who are HILARIOUS!

I stayed the night in OKC with B on Friday and had to get up early and meet J in Moore at the Warren theatre, because somebody (yes, me) forgot the bridesmaid dress on Friday...ugh! But other than that everything was right on schedule and so much fun!

The reception was at the Hall of Mirror in the Civic Center and the dj was great!

Congrats B&B, the wedding was so much fun!!
