pinterest: home ideas.

I've been on Pinterest for a while, but not until Jack was born (and I had a little more time on my hands) did I really understand the power of it.

I love having a bunch of great ideas and recipes in one place. I used to always email recipes, websites, pictures, good ideas, etc. to myself, and now I just have to check my pinboards and I can easily find anything I found important.

Below are some of the images (and links) I've pinned of great spaces. In the future, John and I would love to build a house and I've found tons of great ideas.

randoms.

•So, my tv watching usually takes a definite hit during the summer. But, the one show that I can count on is Big Brother. Not only is it immensely entertaining, but it also comes on three nights a week!

The new season just started about 2 weeks ago, and I'm already hooked. Each season there are twists and the main one for this summer is that 3 "couples" from previous seasons came back on the show to try to win the $500,000 prize. Evel Dick and Daniele, Jeff and Jordan and, the worst of all of them, Brendon and Rachel.

If you like to watch a bunch of Crazies duking it out three nights a week, this is the show for you. The psychological warfare is the best.

Do you watch Big Brother?

•About a month ago we got some geraniums to fill two of the pots on our front porch. I don't have the greenest of thumbs, but I've been able to keep geraniums alive before. This year is apparently the exception. I've tried keeping them more shaded, less shaded, watered more often, watered less often and nothing seems to help. They're dying a slow death.

I've admitted I'm not a skilled gardener, but who can keep anything alive in these temps? And, there's no end in sight.

•The other night, just before I put Jack to bed, we did a little photoshoot. I got the cutest smiling pic of The Bubbs.

I was never a lover of the gummy, toothless smile, but this one just melts my heart. And those dimples!

•Friday was John's 29th birthday. We had a little QT for ourselves and went out to dinner with family. I think he enjoyed the first day of the his last year in his 20s.

Let me tell you the highlight of dinner, though: John, me, his aunt Missy and brother Matt all got puked on. Yep. Happy birthday to you, huh?

We went to the Mont, John's favorite, and were sitting inside instead of melting on the patio. We were all sitting, eating and drinking, minding our own business when some guy couldn't make it to the bathroom in time. I thought he'd spilled a drink, but No. He had had one too many and lost it all right behind me. I was wearing a romper, so I couldn't just change my shirt. John and his brother both got it all on their legs.

It was disgusting, but at least it happened to us. I'm not sure just anyone would be ok with it. The worst part is that the guy puked all over the floor and the entire party (except one) just peaced out. One really nice guy hung back and helped clean up and apologized. But, geez...everyone scurries away without saying a word? Nice.

That's all on the randoms.

I have a baby shower for Jack's future best friend this afternoon and I'm finally going to see Harry Potter part 2 tomorrow afternoon! Should be a nice little weekend.

first swim.

John and I have wanted to get Jack in the pool for a while, but I could never find a bathing suit that would fit him. Most of the ones I could find were 3 months, and just hadn't been big enough to fit. Until recently!

Last weekend, with my brother in town, we strapped a water diaper on (they were size 3-4, and our man wears size 1... but we didn't have any mishaps) and his suit and the cutest matching swim shirt. Grams (John's mom) also got him a cute little bucket hat.

With all of his accessories, we were ready!

Once the sun went behind the trees some and he had a full tummy, we got Jack into the water.

I wouldn't say he loved it, but he didn't hate it, either. We'll keep trying on the water, and hopefully in the future we'll have a waterbaby on our hands. Well, a baby that is happy and responsible around water. We don't want him diving head first in the pool with no one around. Geez. That's scary.

uncle jason.

My brother (and Jack's birthday twin) visited us last weekend!

Jack and I picked up Jason from the airport just after lunchtime on Friday and went straight to Texadelphia in Bricktown for a cheesesteak and waffle fries. Jack was mostly on his best behavior. We were able to eat without a meltdown and Jason got a little QT with Jack just before we left.

We didn't have much planned for Jason's visit. He just wanted to spend time with his nephew.

John and I cooked dinner on Friday and spent the afternoon at his parent's pool on Saturday. Jack really enjoyed his time with Uncle Jason and can't wait to see him again when we go to Austin in a couple weeks!

I had a bout with the one about texting just last week. It was rough.

Jack: two months.

Are you kidding me? Two whole months have passed since Jack joined our family? Wow, time really does fly!

In the last month we've gotten to see more glimpses of Jack's personality. He's a really happy baby most of the time, and we just love it when he smiles that toothless grin. He's always so happy to see me in the mornings (unless I've dallied a little too long and he's hungry) and loves diaper changes and getting his clothes changed. Do we have a fashionisto on our hands?

He's a pretty good little independent player. After his bottle he's usually content to lay on this activity mat and stare at his reflection or move his arms and legs around in hopes of hitting one of the little characters that makes noise. But, when he's had enough, it's quite obvious.

We love to sing The Wheels on the Bus and he just loves the little movements I do with his arms and legs. I think his favorite verse is when the wipers on the bus go swish, swish, swish. I always get big smiles and sometimes a coo or two on that one.

Just a couple weeks ago Jack rolled over from tummy to back for the first time, and this weekend he did it again, two times in a row! Even though tummy time isn't his favorite ... I think he has great neck control and can even hold himself up on his forearms for longer and longer. Not only is his neck getting stronger, but so are his little legs. Jack loves to "stand" on us and ends up looking like he's hula hooping when he's trying to keep his balance. I love it!

He's starting to stay awake so much longer. He can usually last an hour before it's time for a nap. But that's when we have the most fun! He's cooing, laughing, smiling, and checking out the world around him. But, we're currently battling the 25-45 minute nap. I don't mind it so much if he's content. It's the times when he's screaming and wailing that start to kind of fray my nerves.

Just in the last week, he's started to get more of a handle on his nighttime sleep. In the last 5 nights, he's mostly slept through the night on four of them. I feed him at 9 and put him straight to bed and he's been sleeping until around 6 or 6:30. Although I usually have to get up at least twice to reswaddle him, I'm loving more sleep.

Speaking of reswaddling, Jack is getting to be quite the mover. He breaks out of that dang velcro swaddleme blanket so easily! He loves to flail his left arm and that's usually the arm that's out first. And, by the morning he's usually scooted himself to the opposite end of his crib. It makes me wonder what this will mean when he really starts moving around!

Jack still has a full head of hair and that's usually the first comment that people make when they see him. Although it's gotten lighter (and he's got blonde roots, too), there's no sign of him going bald anytime soon, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

We're on the go a lot, but the car seat is by no means Jack's favorite place to be and he's yet to be super portable (minus those super sleepy first couple of weeks). Usually he sleeps during the car ride then wakes up when we get where we're going and after 20 to 30 minutes in there, it is TIME TO GET OUT! And, once again, he lets us know it.

All in all, I can tell a big difference in Jack from last month to this one and I'm so excited and anxious to see how he's going to change and grow. But, I don't want things to move too fast, I love having a little cuddler ... he won't be like this forever!

We just had our doctor's appointment this morning and Jack was a trooper for his shots. Of course he cried, but was calmed down within minutes.

2 month stats:
•12 lbs. 0 oz. (57%)
•23 3/4 long (79%)
•4-5 oz. every 3 hours
•pretty much all 0-3 clothes and some 3months
•size 1 diapers

happy fourth.

Happy Fourth of July! We've been hanging by the pool and grilling out (when Jack isn't eating or fussing...) and have had a great weekend.

We're all so lucky to live in the US and have so many men and women fighting for our freedoms!

And now, on to the star of the show. Linda, Erin's mom, gave Jack this cute little shortall that is perfect for the 4th. Doesn't he look so cute??!!

Hope you guys are all enjoying the sun and super hot weather.

good news.

Good morning!

I have a bevy of good news for you guys: Jack had a great day yesterday and slept 8.5 hours!!! Since he ate at 7:30, I had to get up around 4, but I'll take it! And, the little guy is 8 weeks today! Next week is his 2 month birthday and it's all so crazy how fast time has really flown. I can't wait to go back to the doctor and find out all of his stats. The guy has grown like crazy and my uncalibrated scale says he's over 12 pounds.

I took this yesterday during one of his great naps. It doesn't get much cuter than a sleeping baby.

I'm not holding my breath that today will be as good as yesterday or that he'll sleep as long tonight, but knowing we can have such a great day and great night's sleep has really helped my peace of mind.

(I was all ready to spend money to watch an online seminar over nap and bedtime routines, but I'm glad I waited.)

And, in other news, during one of Jack's naps yesterday, I noticed a bat on our bedroom window. It stayed there all afternoon and finally flew off sometime last night.

Have a great Friday and, more importantly, a safe and fun 4th of July weekend!! Cross your fingers for more long night's sleeps for my baby (and me!).
