Six {hopefully short} days

Just a reminder that this starts in just six days! {I'm fighting very hard to control my excitement!}

Oh-em-gee

Yesterday started as most Fridays do...wanting it to be over, so we can just get to the weekend, already, please.

But, after finishing a few magazine deliveries, J and I stopped into the University Bookstore for a little perusing. Once we'd made our purchase, we headed back to the car. We had a couple other things to finish at the office and then we had to take a picture of the patio at Othello's and then we were meeting the Landgrafs for dinner.

Uhhh...that's when the day when to ***t. Yep, got to my car, turned the key....NOTHING. Not even a ticking noise, like the battery was trying to start. Nothing. We tried a few more times, to no avail. And, of course there was some other weird ticking noise {making me especially nervous}.

We called Vic and he got some jumper cables and headed our way {thankfully!}. We hooked up our cars {we were so lucky to have parked somewhere that had fabulous access for jumping a car}. After just 5 minutes or so, my car started...yay!!! But, it just didn't feel right.

We went back to our office {left the car running} to turn off computers, get the rest of our things, only to go back to Campus Corner to take a photo. We had to find another jumping-accessible parking spot, just in case. When I turned off my car, I knew it wouldn't start again, unless it was jumped...and sure enough, around 7 or so, when we went back to retrieve my phone, nothing {again}.

J and I went about our business...photo and dinner with Tara & Justin. By 9ish, we were finished and had to have them jump my car again.

We made it home ok {thank the Lord!} and left the car running while we picked up the dogs.

As of now, the car is sitting in front of our house...dead...as a doornail. It'll be hitting the Ford service department early Monday morning, and if I don't get a loaner car...I'll be P-I-S-E-D {pised? -- name that movie}.

Have a great weekend!

Have you seen it?

Have you seen this movie? All I hear is that it's really good.

J and I are terrible about seeing movies in the theater, but in the last month or so we've been on quite the streak. We've seen The Hangover twice and The Proposal. Maybe we'll get another crazy hair and see this this weekend. I'll keep you posted

Worth the wait

Last weekend we were invited to a wedding for one of my pledge sister and her awesome fiance! They got married in OKC at the Skirvin hotel {it's been restored after sitting defunct in downtown OKC -- and I can tell you, they did an awesome job!}

Sarah is constantly a ball of energy {seriously this girl does not slow down...} so we knew that her wedding would be too much fun to want to drive home afterward. We got a room at the Skirvin for Saturday night and I'm so glad we did. We got to see so many people we hadn't seen in way too long.

The ceremony was beautiful. It was on the 14th floor {interesting tidbit: the Skirvin is sans 13th floor} in this gorgeous room with wood floors and crystal chandeliers. I wish I could have gotten some pics, but I didn't want to use the flash... Anyway, Sarah's dress was beautiful and each of the bridesmaids looked great -- the hair was awesome and another pledge sister, Lindsay Hartley, did their makeup! Sam looked so excited the whole time and he couldn't stop bouncing up and down to ready to finally get married to Sarah.

With the ceremony over and Sarah and Sam finally husband and wife, it was time to celebrate! We headed downstairs for a fun cocktail hour. Good drinks, passed hors d'oeuvres, great company...always make for a good time. Before we knew it, we were being ushered into the ballroom for a sit down dinner, the first dance, father/daughter & mother/son dances, etc.

Once all that fun was over, it was time for the DJ to fire up his tunes so everyone could hit the dance floor. Sam is Lebanese and his family made a great showing. The played the Lebanese national anthem, lifted up the bride, groom, FOG, MOB...anyone they could get their hands on! They certainly know how to have a good time... we could hardly get on the dance floor...haha!

Sarah and Sam called it a night and headed toward the limo showered with well-wishes and sparklers.

Sarah was a beautiful and way fun bride and Sam...of course was as gracious as can be that everyone came out to support them. I wish them all the best...they're a great couple!

I took entirely too many pics, but here are a couple of the better ones from Saturday night.

Sliders

On Thursday we were asked to take pictures of the food at Seven47 again. {Yep, I took such fab pics the first time, they wanted us -- me-- back for more}

We were there for Slider Thursday. There are nine different kinds of sliders -- crab cake, philly cheese steak, regular cheeseburgers, etc. They're really good and definitely a good price. Anyway, we hit the side patio again and took pics of all nine kinds of sliders.

Here are some of them:

They look pretty darn good right? They definetely taste as good as they look. If you're in the Norman area on a Thursday... go! Or, really, any night...they serve food seven days a week.

Here are a couple other pics I took after the serious slider photography was over. I think they turned out really cool.

Those are just pics I took because I really liked the light coming through the beer bottles. I love that the focal point in both is a little different. I think I'm starting to get a hang of this photography thing.

Catch Up

This week has been pretty run-of-the-mill for us. I know I said I would tell you guys about what the doc said about Lily, but John and I haven't firmly decided what we're going to do, so I wanted to wait until then.

But...last night Top Chef started {!}, tonight Project Runway starts {!} and then Saturday we're headed to OKC to stay at the Skirvin for what should be a very fun wedding! I have the best of intentions to take my camera, so keep your fingers crossed that I remember!

Anyway, yesterday, while John and his brother {mainly his bro...thanks Vic!} were mowing the yard, I took the camera out of the bag and took some pics of the dogs. I got a couple cute pics of them licking the floor {they love to do that after we put treats in their toy...eeew!}. But, then, right on cue, of course, I got up off the floor to take a few more pics and Gus got a hold of the lens cap and chewed on it. Ugh!

I checked Amazon.com and ordered a new one...

You cannot leave that dog unsupervised for a second. Anyway, here are a couple of the pics of the pugs.

Yes, please

I've been swooning over this jacket from J. Crew since I got their most recent catalogue a couple of weeks ago. I'll take it in darkest indigo, in case you were wondering.

I saw this {really} cute woman in a similar velvet jacket, white button down and jeans at an OU basketball game either this season or last season. Either way, it's been months and I've been wanting something similar ever since.

Now's my chance. I lurve this jacket and I might just have to find a way to get into my closet. J. Crew, feel free to send it my way...I'll peddle your goods anytime.

Successful Weekend

This past weekend was a blast! My parents came in town on Friday. They went immediately up to OKC to have lunch with one of my dad's friends/colleagues. Of course, they went to Johnnie's. My mom can't set foot in Oklahoma without immediately thinking of when she'll get a chance to eat at Johnnie's. And, can I tell you that it doesn't matter if it's breakfast, lunch or dinner. Johnnie's is good any time of day {just ask my Aunt Brooke!}.

Once they hit Purcell, we were on for the weekend! We had dinner at Ted's on Friday night with John D and Gracie. It was nice to take my parents somewhere different. I had a great time, but I'm not so sure my mom was keen on her food. We might have to cross that one off our list {don't worry, mom, it's ok if you didn't like it :)}.

We all crashed on Friday night. My parents had been driving and John and I had worked our butts off all week, making sure that we had as much done on our next issue as possible.

Saturday morning, I had committed myself to help out at the Chi-O house to help out with 7-party day for rush. This was my first time helping out and it was pretty fun. It's so fun to see all the girls doing skits. I realize that rush sucks when you're an undergrad, but I've come to the realization that it was actually really fun...and {shock of all shocks}, I kinda miss it! I definitely want to help out again next year.

John had to help his dad and brother do PHS football photo day. After that they all met my dad out at the golf course. Though I wasn't in attendance, I think they had a good time.

My mom and I hit Norman for lunch and then shopped around Campus Corner. It was so much fun to be able to get around to all the places we've wanted to go without the gameday crowds. We found some good deals and came back with cute new stuff! Can't wait for her to come back again so we can make it to several other places around town.

That night we made our usual trip to Louie's in Brookhaven for dinner. It wouldn't be a visit from the 'rents without some Louie's action. And, as usual, it didn't disappoint. Good food, good conversation, good company.

Sunda morning, after a great breakfast, we did some Sunday driving around town and then back to the house for mom and dad to pack up.

We had a great time with them and can't wait for them to come back {soooo soon! Thank.you.football!}

I had the best intentions to get the camera out and take plenty of pictures, but if you couldn't already tell by this picture-less post...I forgot to get it out the whole time! And, if you couldn't already tell...I've been super busy lately and haven't had a lot of time for hobby photography. I'm hoping that will change as I get used to our busier schedule.

Coming soon: We had our appointment in OKC this morning for Lily with the veterinary oncologist. She had a good amount of information and we have some long, hard decision-making in our future, regarding our gal Lil.

Well, that made me nervous!

Do you watch Big Brother? If you don't, you should definitely start. Here are my reasons:

1. It's on 3 {yep...threeeeee} nights a week. Too much to handle, you say? No...it's awesome! So much happens each time, it's so good.

2. This show keeps you guessing. Each episode is completely different. Who's going to win Head of Household (HOH)? Who will win the Power of Veto (POV)? Who's going to be evicted? Never.a.dull.moment.

and, 3. Everyone has to have a guilty pleasure, right? This happens to be {one of} mine!

Anyway, tonight was awesome! But, before it all began, I was pretty nervous. Jeff was given the power of coup d'etat by America, and this was final week to be able to use it, or he lost it.

He did not disappoint! He took down both of Chima's nominations and put up Natalie & Jessie {yessss!} And, eventually Jessie {sucka!} was sent home. Good riddance. You didn't win BB10 and you ain't {I know...} winnin' BB11.

This guy lost. Twice.

If you watch, you know that Chima was not happy at all. I didn't realize that both Jeff and {former HOH} Chima could play in the new HOH competition...a little scary for Jeff if you ask me. But, things worked out {hopefully} because Michele won. And Michele is a bit of a tricky one. She has no allegiance to anyone, or maybe she does and we'll find out to whom she has it.

Tune in on Sunday on CBS.

Let Down...

I know you guys are expecting some wildly hilarious stories accompanied by equally wildly hilarious pictures, and unfortunately, you just aren't going to get it.

I promised great stuff after what promised to be a fun-filled weekend, but just like my weekend let me down, I'm going to be letting you down. But, I promise to do it gently.

J hurt his back early last week and by Friday was feeling much better. Unfortunately, just when you think you're out of the woods, you end up right back in them, and that's what happened. He tweaked his back again!

As luck would have it, we went to a birthday party {and, alas, forgot the camera} for a couple of friends and there was a physical therapist in attendance. {He's marrying one of my pledge sisters in less than two weeks and just so happens to be the nicest guy ever!} He worked on J some at the party and promised to see him on Monday.

So, here we are on Monday afternoon. J has seen Sam and has been given strict instructions {that I will, undoubtedly, be enforcing} to follow over the next couple of days.

With my parents slated for a non-football related {!} visit this weekend, we, obviously, need J in tip-top shape!

And, I really have to apologize for the lack of pictures lately. I promise I'm coming along on my side table project and really, with our lack of serious social activity, I haven't had many pictures that you guys might find interesting. But, that could all change in an instant, and you guys will be the first to know.

Best is yet to come!

Very good news on the horizon, folks.

And, before you ask, no it's nothing life changing.

All I'm saying is that we have a big weekend planned, which means we'll have good stories, which means I'll have fun and interesting things to blog about {which will hopefully include really amazing pictures}.

Stay tuned.

Booooring

This past weekend was really quite uneventful.

J had a golf tournament {it was rain delayed back in May} on Saturday, and although he didn't win, I know he had a fabulous time...he always does.

I spent my Saturday at the bank, getting gas and then hittin' the garage to sand down the table I mentioned here. The electric sander wasn't in tip-top shape and therefore made for a little bit of frustration. Luckily it was able to get the top and bottom shelf sanded and then I opted to sand by hand the rest of the time.

I still need to vacuum the table {kinda weird? I know, but it's all I can think of anything else that will get all of the dust off quickly without much hassle}, prime the table, paint the table and find a fabulous new drawer knob, and voila!

So, as you can read...we weren't all that interesting this past weekend. But, there's always next weekend, which promises to be better than last!
