recent designs.

I've said this before, but thanks to those of you who have contacted me to fulfill your graphic design needs!

I'm thinking about opening an Etsy store. This means I'd have to buckle down and do some "templates" that could be purchased with a change of information for cheaper than a custom invitation, announcement, etc., but I think it could work really well.

I'd love to design something for you! Email me at

recent designs.

First, I have to say thanks to my friends who have chosen me to design invites for them, and have been sending business my way. Thanks!!

Also, since our days with the magazine, we've forged great relationships with the owners of a restaurant group and I continue to do design work for them, which definitely keeps me busy.

Below is a birthday invite for my friend's parents and a restaurant flyer for a dinner special at one of the restaurants.

J and I also did the photography for this one. Yep, we're full service like that!
If you see something you like, or would like a custom invite, announcement, flyer, etc., please email me at

happy new year.

We had the best of intentions to take family pictures sometime in November to use for our Christmas card. However, they didn't every happen, which made Christmas cards (using a new picture) a little tough.

Instead, we took a family picture on Christmas Eve and I was determined to send out a New Year Card.

Success! Happy 2012!

recent designs.

Now that we've sold the magazine, I need a creative outlet. And, what better way than helping family and friends (and any other referrals :)) with their design needs? Below is a Save the Date for John's cousin's wedding and a good friend's baby announcement.

I would LOVE to help anyone out with Christmas cards (may be too late this year ... but there's always 2012), announcements, invitations, save the dates, stationary ... whatever!

week in review

Wow, this week has been super busy.

• I finished up another issue of our magazine and took it to the press on Tuesday. Even with a few setbacks {ahem, someone completely flaking on us...}, we got it turned in and approved.

• We had a setback with Dish Network, but then got it all worked out and got our new tv set up in our bedroom. {One of my favorite things is to watch tv in bed. I know, it's not the best, but I love it.}

• I'm joining Junior League, and last night was my first JL activity. We did a scavenger hunt {I know...but it's really a good way to get to know people with minimal awkwardness} and then everyone had dinner together. I couldn't stay for dinner.

• I couldn't stay for dinner because the restaurant I did design work for was having a soft opening {that's what it's called right?} and I had to see everything in person! If you're in OKC, you have to go to the new Texadelphia in Lower Bricktown. If not to eat the food, at least to see all the cool stuff I did for the inside!

• Nothing is planned for tonight, but a couple friends of ours are having a birthday BBQ tomorrow. So fun!

Have a good weekend lovelies!

action.

I've been using Photoshop for several years, but not until recently {the last 8 months, maybe} did I realize that Actions existed.

Actions are pre-programmed steps to do different things to a picture -- enhance areas, change colors, sepia tones, 70s type photos, etc. {That's my definition and most likely not the technical one.} Pioneer Woman has two sets -- one with 6 or 7 and another with maybe 10.

PW Set 1
PW Set 2

I've never really played around with these, but I was looking through an Arkansas photographer's blog and it hit me. The different colored photos aren't SOOC, they use actions and other Photoshop tricks and filters! And I call myself a graphic designer, pshhh.

Anyway, I've mentioned that J and I have aspirations of a couple of gallery walls in our house, and I decided to try my hand at some actions of our own photos in hopes that we could put those up in the house.

Here are two pictures -- I'm showing you the before and after.
This one I took of Gus last summer when I was just figuring out our camera and the new lens we'd gotten. I love the SOOC one, but the B&W is awesome!
J and I had gone to a one-day photography workshop and had to get out and take some pictures pre-sunset. He took this one. We did some minor toning, but the action I did on it made it so cool.

Have you guys ever used actions?
